Gulf Coast

The Gulf Coast Region is a long, narrow slice of Texas along the Gulf of Mexico, with 624 miles of shoreline, running from Sabine Pass in the north, south to the Rio Grande River. Among the Gulf Coast towns are marsh-surrounded Beaumont, historic Galveston, tropical South Padre Island, Port Isabel and Brownsville.

The biggest town in the south end of the Gulf Coast Region is Corpus Christi where you'll find the USS Lexington, the Texas State Aquarium and Padre Island National Seashore. Houston is the biggest city in both Texas and the Gulf Coast Region.

In addition to many stretches of beautiful beach, the Texas Gulf Coast region is home to some of the most popular attractions in Texas. You can fish, take a stroll in solitude on a beach. go swimming with the dolphins, build sand castles, work on your suntan and practice your surfing or boogie boarding.

Angleton
The Brazoria County Historical Museum and several other historical attractions and landmarks make Angleton a delightful place to visit and glean a glimpse into Texas' past.

Aransas Pass
With the Lighthouse Lakes Kayak Trail, dozens of world-class birding locations, plus access to excellent saltwater fishing, Aransas Pass is a nature lover's dream.

Baytown
On the shores of Galveston Bay, Baytown offers outdoor enthusiasts many recreational venues, but is also close to a number of attractions, such as NASA, the San Jacinto Monument, Battleship Texas, Houston, and Galveston Island.

Beaumont
A blend of Texan and Cajun influences, Beaumont is a big city in a small town package, with many attractions, restaurants and amenities for any visitor.

Brazosport Area
Not really a town, but instead a collection of communities, the Brazosport area offers visitors to the Texas coast much to see and do. Clute, Freeport, Lake Jackson and Surfside Beach make up the Brazosport Area coastal community.

Brownsville
This historic border town has a world class zoo, golf courses, top-flight bird watching,, and quick access to Matamoros, Mexico and South Padre Island.

Clute
The tiny town of Clute has become known for its annual "Great Texas Mosquito Festival," which draws thousands annually to the Texas Gulf Coast. Clute is one of the towns in the Brazosport Area coastal community.

Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi is one of Texas' most popular coastal playgrounds.

Deer Park
Founded in 1892 Deer Park was named for a privately owned park for deer. Deer Park boomed with the growth of industry along the Houston Ship Channel. San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, commemorating the Battle of San Jacinto, victory at which gave Texas its independence from Mexico, is located near Deer Park.

Freeport
The town of Freeport provides visitors great fishing, watersports and other outdoor recreation, only a short drive from Houston. Freeport is an undiscovered jewel. Freeport is one of the towns in the Brazosport Area coastal community.

Galveston
In Galveston you'll find Moody Gardens, 32 miles of beach, ferry rides. fishing piers, historic homes on the Strand, a Schlitterbahn Waterpark, with good restaurants and plenty of places to stay.

Harlingen
Located on the upper edge of the Rio Grande Valley, a short drive from both Mexico and South Padre Island, Harlingen gives visitors a central location to all South Texas sites.

Houston
The largest city in Texas, fourth largest in the nation, with the nation's largest air-conditioned pedestrian tunnel system, connecting more than 100 downtown restaurants, 60 some buildings and 3 hotels.

Kemah
On Galveston Bay, just outside of Houston, Kemah has the best boardwalk, appropriately called the Kemah Boardwalk, on the Texas coast, with a number of restaurants, bars, shops and hotels.

Kingsville
Located along a desolate stretch of South Texas ranch land, Kingsville is home to Texas A&M Kingsville, a variety of museums and, of course, its namesake ranch, that being the King Ranch, tours of which are popular with tourists.  Kingsville also gives fishermen close access to the famed Baffin Bay.

Lake Jackson
The location of Seacenter Texas, the historic Varner-Hogg Plantation, Lake Jackson is also a short distance from Brazos Bend State Park, Houston and Galveston. Lake Jackson is one of the towns in the Brazosport Area coastal community.

League City
Located just outside of Houston, on Clear Lake, which is a branch of Galveston Bay - League City gives visitors quick access to Houston and Galveston Island, plus plenty of local activities such as fishing, golfing, shopping, birding and more.

Matagorda
The mid-coast town of Matagorda is loaded with history and offers many outdoor activities for bird watchers, fishermen, hunters and nature lovers.

Orange
Located on the Texas/Louisiana border, Orange shows its  visitors an interesting blend of Texan and Cajun cultures.

Port Aransas
The ferry ride gets you ready for a relaxing visit to Port Aransas. Birding, nature watching, fishing, shopping and surfing are some of the activities you'll find on this spectacular middle coast island.

Port Arthur
This gem on the upper Texas coast gives visitors quick access to wildlife refuges, state parks, museums and more.

Port Isabel
This seaside town and its famous lighthouse date back to the early 1800s.

Port Mansfield
The tiny South Texas town of Port Mansfield has long been a favorite of sportsmen. Hunters and fishermen come to Port Mansfield for its easy access to the Lower Laguna Madre and the Gulf of Mexico.

Port O'Connor
Port O'Connor has easy access to West Matagorda Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and Matagorda Island State Park, making it a great destination for birders, fishermen, kayakers, and other outdoor enthusiasts.

Rockport
Known as a magnet for Texas artists, Rockport is also home to the Maritime Museum, prime saltwater fishing and excellent birding..

Rosenburg
Known as the "Hub of the Gulf Coast" and the location of Fort Bend County Fair. South of town is Brazos Bend State Park, considered the crown jewel of the Texas State Parks.

South Padre Island
Water sports, like jet skiing, surfing, deep sea fishing, sailing, parasailing, dolphin spotting, windsurfing and all sorts of outdoor fun draw a lot of tourists and spring breakers to South Padre Island.

Surfside Beach
Great fishing, birding, surfing, windsurfing and shell collecting, Surfside Beach is a peaceful, relaxing Texas Gulf Coast community. Surfside Beach is one of the towns in the Brazosport Area coastal community.

Victoria
The historic Gulf Coast town of Victoria provides many outdoor recreational opportunities, museums, shops, restaurants and the Texas Zoo.

West Columbia
The first capital of the Republic of Texas, West Columbia is a coastal community rich in Texas history.
